On this episode of the podcast, Karen Christiansen conducts and co-produces a fantastic and superb interview with me in person. This is Karen's third time on the show and her best interview with me yet.
During our podcast together, Karen asked me questions on and we had a conversation filled with a bunch of topics:
a. What Jewish traditions, celebrations, or aspects of Judaism do you like the most or are the most meaningful to you?
b. Sophie makes a brief guest appearance by asking Karen and me what our thoughts are on reports that Bauder's Ice Cream (on Ingersoll Avenue in Des Moines) is planning to close down permanently? We share memories on what our favorite ice cream flavors were during the times we went to Bauder's and/or ate their special treats at the Iowa State Fair in the past.
c. Our thoughts on SARS-CoV-2/Covid continuing to rage on at widespread levels.
d. Karen asks me to talk about my really impressive TV Show and Movie DVD Collection and how I'm in the midst of watching all my DVD's from A to Z.
I talk about how I am a huge fan of the films that are heavily into puns and parodies such as Airplane 1 and Mel Brooks' Spaceballs; and I also share how passionate I am about the films which were originally presented as Roadshow Theatrical Presentations.
e. Then Karen and I talk quite a lot about music. After our intense discussion on music, I share with Karen how my ideal dream job would be to operate and be an on-air personality on a radio station that operates like the 1960's/1970's/1980's era.
f. We wrap up the show with Karen asking me what my "Dream Concert" would be and who I would love to see in concert more than anyone else.
For about several minutes during the podcast, Karen and Sophie delve into some clean gossip about how Sophie's son Lester is enjoying school and about Jr. High/Middle School.

On this episode of the podcast, Dana Mintzer Leman and her son Zander conduct and co-produce a fantastic, superb, and outstanding interview with me in person. This is Dana's third time and Zander's second time on the show (his first being in person). This is a not just a special Potpourri episode but it's also a "Questions You (We Hope) Have Never Been Asked Before" interview. The questions Dana and Zander ask me are:
Tell us about your pajamas and any plush toys in your bed?
Star Wars or Star Trek?
What do you typically eat for breakfast?
What is your favorite TV show/streaming series?
The best advice anyone has ever given you?(we bring up several things related to these podcasts as I answer this question)
What are your favorite sayings or quotes?
If there's a book you would want people to read, what book(s) would you recommend?(I talk again during this segment about my passion for the Filmation cartoons, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood and Fred Rogers o.b.m., and the movies that were designed to be Roadshow Theatrical Presentations).
What are your pet peeves?
You can go anywhere on vacation for one week, where is it you would go for that week?
If you could go to one concert whether that group or artist is still around or who is no longer around, what group would you go see and hear perform?
What would your Dream Job be if you weren't doing what you are doing nowadays?
If you eat one thing for dinner for the rest of your life, what would that one thing be?
What Mitzvot do you strive to uphold in your daily life (as a practicing observant Jew)?
Talk a little bit about your sister Marni?
Do you like your shoes and what kind of shoes are they?
If you started another podcast, what would it be about?
What's your favorite season?
Do you prefer Brisket more or Sushi more?
Champagne Cake or Banana Cake?
After all these questions, Dana has some thoughts to share on the podcast, Zander, and me. And then before we wrap up the interview, I perform for Dana and Zander my voice impersonation of the late Jim Morrison making the nursery rhyme "Hush Little Baby" sound like a song written by The Doors. Of the three interviews that Dana has conducted with me over these last few years, I firmly believe this one is "Her Best Interview Ever!"

On this episode of the podcast, J. Michael McKoy AKA The Mac conducts and co-produces a fantastic and really inspirational interview with me thru Zoom. This is Mac's very first time on the podcast. A very special shout-out and thanks goes out to Dana Leman for recruiting Mac to join The Juice with Jeff family of interviewers and co-producers!!
During the interview, Mac and I had LOTS of conversation on several topics like:
Mac first asked me to talk about what things I'm passionate about. And then I talk more about these podcasts, how I heavily promote the importance of accepting everyone as they are for who they are, my love for classic and vintage films especially the movies which were designed as Roadshow Theatrical Presentations.
Then I ask Mac to talk about the decades long history he has being in the radio/broadcasting industry throughout the Midwest and the podcasts that he produces.
And then during the rest of the interview Mac and I talk about various topics like God and spiritually in a non-denominational general sense, how both of us are sad that most of terrestrial commercial radio today just isn't the same, how we both make sure our podcasts emphasize a clean and family friendly format and what we think radio should be, Mister Rogers, a few other broadcast legends in Des Moines radio history, important things we both learned in our respective journalism schools, and the multiple things which make my podcasts really unique and special.
And toward the very end of the interview, I send a shout out to and mention several special people that have conducted/co-produced interviews with me in the past that both Mac and I are friends with: Jami Ahart, Dana Leman, Stephanie Toms, Micole Van Walbeek, Jill Sarcone, Sarah Trone Garriott, Jennifer Konfrst, and Michael P. Libbie. I also sent a shout out to Martha Scanlan and Sarah Graf. I mention to Mac that in answering the question which episodes of the podcast are my favorites or who are my favorite interviewers are; I am having a tough time answering the question on which episodes are my absolute all time favorites as most of the interviews have been fantastic or superb, but I definitely can consider Jami, Dana, Micole, Stephanie, Jennifer, Sarah Graf, Martha, and Jill to be among my Top 15 Favorite Interviewers of everyone who has been on the show so far in addition to Mac!! And I also mention to Mac that Dana is scheduled to conduct her third interview with me in person just a few days after this episode was produced, and that we're in the process of scheduling Stephanie, Micole (with Josh Chapman and preferably also her mom Carrie England at the same time), Martha, Sarah Graf, Jill, and Jennifer to conduct interviews with me again sometime this year during the spring, summer, or fall all in person.
This episode of the podcast was recorded on Friday February 2, 2024 and it runs 1 hour and 17 minutes long. Our opening and closing theme music is provided by Oleg Kyrylkovv courtesy of Pixabay. On this episode of the podcast, Erin Lackore conducts and co-produces a fantastic interview with me thru Zoom. This is Lisa's very first time on the podcast.
During the interview, Erin and I had a conversation on several topics like:
Since Erin turned 50 this past year and I will hopefully be turning 50 in October, what 50 things would you like to do? Neither of us could think of 50, but we each did talk about several things we wanted to do over the course of this year.
As part of this discussion, topics that are brought up include my passion for classic and vintage films particularly the ones in their original Roadshow Theatrical Presentation form.
How I am planning during my spare time to watch all of the TV shows and Movies in my DVD collection in alphabetical order from A to Z which started with the A's on New Year's Eve and will continue until I get to my last W Movie by no later than December 2024 (though I'll likely be done watching the whole DVD TV show and movie collection much sooner than that possibly late summer).
The history and purpose of the whole The Juice with Jeff podcast series and the super special goal I have for the 2024 Episode Season.
Books we like to read
Other podcasts we listen to
And we wrap up the show with Erin and I sharing favorite moments and highlights from our VHS days. I am able to throw in my voice impersonations of Fat Albert, Michael Barbaro, Brian Dean Christensen, and Coach Bill Coldiron (of blessed memory).
